Account book with Sir William Clayton, 1805-1814.

Manuscript, in a single hand, of an account book recording bills paid and received, primarily pertaining to Sir William Clayton's household and real estate affairs. The volume records payment of property and other taxes; rents received; and livestock bought; and also contains lists of tenants' names, including Joseph Webb's, and the amounts of their annual rents. Other recorded expenses include payments to Lady Clayton, wages, armorial bearings, personal expenses such as hair powder, and payment to the doctor "for having stones."
